Everything you need to know about using Uha

Getting Started

Uha is a subscription manager for iOS that keeps all your data on your device. No accounts, no sign-ups — just open the app and start tracking.

  1. Download Uha from the App Store and open it.
  2. Tap "+" to add your first subscription — manually, from a receipt, or a screenshot.
  3. Set a reminder so you never miss a renewal date.
Uha comes with 80+ built-in service presets. Start typing a service name and it will auto-suggest the details.

Adding Subscriptions

There are several ways to add a subscription to Uha:

  • Manual entry — Fill in the name, price, billing cycle, and category. Pick from presets or create a custom service.
  • From a receipt — Point your camera at a paper or digital receipt. On-device text recognition will extract the details automatically.
  • From a screenshot — Share a screenshot of a confirmation email or billing page with Uha, and it will parse the subscription info.
  • Natural language — Type something like "Netflix 15.99 monthly" into a single field and Uha will parse it into separate fields.
Receipt and screenshot scanning, as well as natural language input, use on-device ML — your data never leaves the device.

Managing

Once you've added subscriptions, Uha gives you two ways to view and manage them:

  • Calendar view — See upcoming renewals on a visual calendar. Great for planning when charges will hit.
  • List view — A chronological list of all your subscriptions with prices and next renewal dates.
  • Categories — Organize subscriptions into categories like Streaming, Productivity, Health, etc. Fully customizable.
  • Edit anytime — Tap any subscription to update the price, cycle, category, or cancel it entirely.

Spending Analytics

Uha gives you a clear picture of where your money goes:

  • Monthly total — see how much you're spending each month across all subscriptions.
  • Annual total — the full yearly cost at a glance.
  • Category breakdown — visual split of spending by category.
  • Forecast — project your spending up to 2 years ahead (10 years with Unlimited).

Reminders

Never pay for something you meant to cancel. Set up renewal alerts:

  1. Open a subscription and tap "Reminder".
  2. Choose when to be notified: 1 day before, 3 days, 1 week, or a custom interval.
  3. You'll receive a local notification — no server needed.
With AI features enabled, Uha can suggest smarter reminder timing based on the subscription type.

Privacy & Security

Uha is built with privacy at its core. Here's what that means in practice:

  • No accounts or sign-ups — open and use. Your identity is not our business.
  • Zero analytics, telemetry, crash reporters, or third-party SDKs.
  • Protect the app with Face ID or a passcode — your data stays hidden even if someone picks up your phone.
  • The only network request Uha makes is to fetch currency exchange rates. Only a date is sent — no personal data.

We believe privacy isn't a feature — it's a right. Uha is built for people who agree.

AI Features

On supported devices (iPhone 15 Pro+), Uha uses on-device machine learning to make things faster:

  • Receipt & screenshot scanning — Extracts service name, price, and renewal date using on-device text recognition.
  • Natural language input — Write "Spotify 9.99 monthly" in one field — Uha parses it into structured data.
  • Auto-categorization — Recognizes the service and suggests a category, icon, and typical pricing.
  • Overlap detection — Flags duplicate services or ones already included in a bundle you have.
  • Spending summary — A sentence like "This month you'll spend 12% more because of the annual Figma renewal."
All AI features run entirely on your device. Nothing is sent to any server.

Customization

Make Uha feel like it was made just for you:

  • App Icons — Choose from classic, dark, and pride icon variants for your home screen.
  • Themes — Light, Dark, and OLED modes. Follows system preference or set independently.
  • Accent Color — Pick from 8 iOS-inspired accent colors that style the entire interface.
  • Base Currency — Set your home currency and all subscriptions are automatically converted with live exchange rates.

Data Export

Your data belongs to you. Export it anytime in two formats:

  • CSV — Opens in any spreadsheet app. Great for personal analysis or sharing.
  • SQL — A database dump you can import into any SQL-compatible tool.
  1. Go to Settings → Export Data.
  2. Choose CSV or SQL format.
  3. Share or save the file via the iOS share sheet.

iCloud Backup

Uha supports optional iCloud backup. Your data is encrypted by Apple and controlled by you.

  1. Go to Settings → iCloud Backup.
  2. Toggle on "Enable iCloud Sync".
  3. Your data will sync across devices signed into the same Apple ID.
iCloud backup is entirely opt-in. Uha never sees or accesses your iCloud data.

FAQ

Is Uha really free?

Yes. The free plan includes up to 5 subscriptions, 3 currencies, and a 2-year forecast. Upgrade to Unlimited to remove all limits.

Does Uha work without internet?

Yes. Everything works offline except currency exchange rate updates, which require a brief network request.

Can I use Uha on iPad or Mac?

iPadOS and macOS versions are coming soon. Currently Uha is available on iPhone.

What happens if I delete the app?

All data is stored locally on your device. If you delete the app without an iCloud backup, your data is gone. We recommend enabling iCloud sync or exporting regularly.

Is Uha open source?

Yes. Uha is open source — you can inspect the code and verify that your data stays private.
